Nachtwächter

First of all, we would like to give you some information about the logo of the Kneispermühle. As you can see in old pictures of the Kneispermühle this logo has existed since the foundation of the country inn.

On the logo you can see a historic nightwatchman on a wine barrel surrounded by an oval of wine leaves. You can recognize him by his typical equipment such as the halberd (a pike weapon, his garment and hat.

And he always used to carry his lantern on his route. Whether our nightwatchman was tired or drunk – let your imagination run free.

It was the nightwatchman´s task to ensure peace and quiet.

He went through streets and lanes and warned the citizens of dangers such as fire or thieves. Even today you may meet nightwatchmen in some towns, but more or less just to keep up the tradition.

The Kneispermühle, too, still has their nightwatchmen, however, the geese have taken over the tasks of nightwatchman ;-). If they do their job propperly, they will greet unknown persons with loud cackling and threatening gestures.

And now have fun looking at our summer and winter pictures – impressions of the Kneispermühle …
